Do you guys know yet if grid2 will be adapted to midnight or do we need to start planning to move away from this amazing tool?

i  plan to maintain grid2 for next expansion, assuming blizzard does not restrict addons API in a way that makes impossible to adapt the addon.

love to hear that! hopefully you (and all the other raid-frame-addon-authors) can maintain and adapt the (their) addon! using grid2 for what seems forever (i think since wotlk) i whould really be sad to not being able to use this because of blizzard!

and again: THX to you and the team for maintaing grid2 over the years!

Hurray! I hardly use any addons anymore but I don't see myself getting rid of grid.

I know it's early days but is there any expectation of what functionality might be lost? I have my hots as timers in each unit-frame of various colors and wasn't sure if the API won't allow addons to see what the buff is anymore.

Just came to check status having hopped into Beta. Super glad to hear it'll be continued for Midnight! I've been trying to use default frames or some other addons (RFS specifically) and they're just not a tenth of the functionality I like from Grid.

    So happy to see this.

Ading myself to this issue to follow along, as it looks like the raidframe I use today, is being abandoned with Midnight.
Looking for a new frame to move to, even it just lets me adjust the look feel a bit of the existing blizzard frames, where are so huge and clunky.

I made some advances and the addon at least it can run now in beta, but the added restrictions are severe: multibars/stacked bars indicators cannot work, colors and/or square indicators to mark buffs/debuffs/dispells cannot work.

Only some icons to displays buffs and debuffs can be displayed and the information is decided by blizzard, no useful filters can be applied.

And more important,  currently there is critical/basic information that cannot be displayed by addons, like who has dispellable debuffs.

Currently the only raid frames addon than can display all  required information to heal non-trivial content is: the blizzard raid frames.

Blizzard promised  to add some API to filter/display buffs and debuffs in some useful way.

So i think its not worth to publish any alpha version yet, waiting next blizzard move.

I know you're not keen on releasing an alpha version, but I'd be super interested in trying it out.
(even if I have to manually download it from source)

2 of my "party frames" addons are either silent or are already committed to not updating.

So I'm looking to transition now so I'm rocking into midnight.

I don't use a lot of features ... I just hate how big the blizzard raid frames are ... and want to get my ui back to close to what I like to have.

Pre-Alpha versions are stored in source github grid2 repository in "midnight" branch.

But  It is not ready to be pusblished yet.

And in a few days blizzard is going to apply a new midnight beta patch, the new patch adds even more restrictions, so most of the new code and fixes i added in this version will be useless/broken.

In summary i wasted hours of work in the midnight beta, and i have to start from scratch with some basic features, that currently I don't even now if they are possible to implement due to the new incoming restrictions.
