ChatSounds
Description
I often miss guild and party messages popping up on my screen since they don't make a sound.
I figured I'd make a mod to solve the problem. :)
Features
- Can play new sounds for
- Whispers
- Guild
- Officer
- Party and Party Leader
- Raid and Raid Leader
- Battlegrounds and BG Leader

- Force Whisper sounds for every whisper.

- Saves its settings per character.
Configuration
- Click the comic bubble icon on top of the Chat Frame and select 'ChatSounds' from the menu.

I was worried about time stamp mods breaking. This is *probably* because of the new Whisper code. With Guild, Officer, Party, and Raid messages I just request notification of these messages and make a sound when I get them. But with whispers I had to hook the actual Chatting function (ChatFrame_OnEvent). The time stamp mod is probably doing the same thing. Try turning off force whispers and new whisper sound and restarting. It should rehook the old function.

BTW, This is why the first version didn't have whisper code. ;)
I'm trying to think of a good solution but nothing comes to mind. If you really want both mods to work fully I suggest you rewrite the ChatSounds_NewChatFrame_OnEvent function. :)
Breaks chat timestamp functionality, like JoChatTimestamp:

When you recieve a whisper in game, the first time it makes a sound. After that, it will not. So if you're chatting with a friend, you won't get sounds every time he whispers to you. And if you go about your business, and then he whispers you again 5 minutes later, you get no sound.
It is the first event from a new whisper that the game announces with a sound. Subsequent whispers from the same person do not. I could use an addon that made a little noise every time I got a whisper.
yes they do but you cant hear them.. that would be a great idea for /w.. hoping you make one for this too =)
Don't /tells or /whispers already make a sound?
I was after something like this for /tells, any chance you could include that ?
