This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of World of Warcraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.

CARTOGRAPHER HAS NOT BEEN UPDATED FOR 3.3!!!

DO NOT CREATE BUG REPORTS SAYING IT IS BROKEN!

There are no plans to do any major bug fixes for Cartographer (v2 or v3). If there is an update it will only be a minor fix. (It has already been this way since at least 2008.) Cartographer(v2) uses an outdated framework that will not be updated in the case of major breakages so Cartographer(v2) would require a complete rewrite. Neither of the two main developers (Ckknight and Arrowmaster) have the time nor desire to do this currently. Occasionally a new version might be released to include fixes made by other developers or new versions of embedded libraries.

Cartographer is a modular, lightweight, and efficient framework for manipulation of the world map. It is based on Rock and other libraries of the WoWAce community.

Battlegrounds : allows viewing of battlegrounds outside of the zone.
Coordinates : adds coordinates to the bottom of the world map of the player and the cursor.
Foglight : Shows unexplored areas on the map. replacement for MozzFullWorldMap or Unexplorer. Much more efficient, though.
Group Colors : turns all your party's and your raid's POIs into circles colored based on class, and shows a number on them based on their raid group.
Instance Maps : shows maps of instances.
Instance Notes : adds boss notes and such to instance maps.
Look 'n' Feel : allows you to change the transparency, position, and scale of the world map.
Notes : lets you put notes on the map, similar to MapNotes.
Zone Info : on hovering over a zone, it will show the levels of the zone, the instances in the zone, their levels, and the group size the instance is made for (e.g. 5-man, 40-man).

As I keep trying to say r2263 works completely! I have two machines here running it and it works completely as it should for us at least.
We use questhelper 0.63 and the r2263 release from the wowace SVN repository...

Sorry, I give up for the moment. Arrowmaster slammed the door shut on the repository, which isn't very nice imho. I can understand they don't want this addon anymore and prefer to work on shiny experimental new things, but if people want to continue using something that works for them, why not let them help maintain it...

Curseforge and wowace.com have merged recently. It is the same repository (in fact I've been using wowace.com all along :)) It is now closed by Arrowmaster because apparently they don't want people to maintain this addon. I did try the loose collection of addons but decided I'd rather help maintain this one than to write an import for handynotes etc.

I understand that as moderator you felt you had to step in. I admit I was a bit out of line, however it was with best intentions.

I have stopped development on Cartographer2 and will cease until such a time that there is word from CK whether or not it this addon is dead.

Thats the reason all those alternatives listed above exist now. Developers didn't like working with Cartographer2 anymore and wanted alternatives.

And right now I'm really missing and wondering where that damn edit post option went. I look like an idiot replying to myself like this.

"constant commit messages"... I only asked two times. I wouldn't want to call it constant, but alas. I did not realise they were broadcast on IRC, therefore my humble apologies. I'm sorry to have upset you.

I only wanted to share the fixes with other people and to help with mainenance because I too like this addon very much.

Most people in the developer community would say that I'm usually a very nice and helpful guy, but these kinda situations probably bring out the worst side in me that makes me seem completely different even though I mean well. Nobody here knows all the information and why nobody else in the community hasn't tried to help fix Cartographer2. Its gotten to a state where most of us see think its better to start with a fresh slate than to properly fix everything that is wrong with Cartographer2. For example problems in Cartographer2 have caused lots of issues for other developers making addons that add icons to the worldmap but 'it still works' for all the users so they don't know that.

I can't figure out why Arrowmaster seems so hostile. Did we do something to you? All we like is the mod and want it back and working. There is no need to get so testy about everything.

I have locked the repo due to the constant commit messages asking for somebody to mark it as a release after I specifically said it would not happen. For those that do not understand this, all commit messages are relayed to our chat channel via a bot. Abusing that to tell us to make a release when it has been stated that we won't will not be accepted.

CARTOGRAPHER 2 IS NOW FROZEN UNTIL CKKNIGHT DECIDES WHAT TO DO!

If he discontinues it and allows somebody else to continue it. They will most likely have to rename it and remove all reference to the name Cartographer because Ckknight is continuing to use the name for his project Cartograpehr3. If you want to complain about this, don't. Already there are lots of but reports submitted to the incorrect Cartographer project.

I have already told you an alternative that you could use if you want something like Cartographer2 and not Cartographer3. I have yet to see a single response from anybody even saying they tried it. So it appears that nobody even cares about working alternatives anymore and just doesn't want change.

If you want to give up on cartographer fine, leave, but there are others who wish to continue to use it.

What Pravnicka said, only go to http://www.wowace.com/projects/cartographer/files/ and pick the latest revision :)
We continue to support the addon, but we are unable to make a new "release" so please download the alpha versions untill then.

This version (and the previous one, 2.1) have a weird error. With this mod loaded, I not longer get error messages like "Cannot use while shapeshifted" or "Can only use indoors" etc when I try to go into travel form inside an inn etc. In fact I get absolutely none of the standard erorr messages. They reappear as soon as I disable cartographer. A wee bit odd that.

Why arent my comments working? Cartogrpaher 2.2 r2263 works completely. Make sure you have questhelper 0.63 - ckknight please release r2263 on here.
