Cartographer 3.0

Table of Contents

This is a map addon for World of Warcraft that replaces the map and offers shiny features.

The idea is for it to work very much like Google Maps, only in-game.

Cartographer 3.0 is brand new, "experimental" version of Cartographer.

I like some of the new features but there are a few things that are confusing, especially in BGs.

There are simply too many icons and too much information in the AV map for instance, making it almost impossible to quickly get the information I need. The coloured backgrounds on GYs and towers also don't seem to correspond to whoever controls them.

ya i agree with Fredholmo, the extra icons in the AV are very confusing and clutter the screen for no apparent reason.

It's kind of spazzy... trying to edit a taboo in Routes for one zone, because of the way it comes up the dots are in other zones... I move to the dot and pow! Other zone, and now the taboo area has moved, so I try to move to the dot and pow! Other zone, and now... I'd honestly prefer it to stay where I put it unless I move it.

This addon will be nice once the textures are working, thats my only issue with it right now.

Sure its different from Cart 2, but its a matter of taste at this point, not the quality of the addon.. which is still in the development or "experimental" stage, so stop whining on how buggy it is yet :) (No offense to the thoughtful posts out there!)

Keep up the good work on this mod!

That's some impressive wow factor, it works mostly for me only had it go blank on the minimap texture once. I would like a slash command to toggle the map though. It'll probably take some getting used to but I think that once all the other stuff to track is on it, it will provide a better summary of where the best zones for a particular node are. It's definitely cool.

Without a slash command I can't assign it to an action key. I am aware of the key bindings, but you can't tell an action key to "press m", however you can assign it "/togglemap" or /script WorldMapFrame:Show().

I'm having a problem posting notes on cartographer..sometimes it works but other times it will not. For example, I wanted to note where the druid trainer was in Darnassus and i right-clicked on cartograher and clicked on 'add note here' nothing happened. I tried it again in Exodar at the harbor to feathermoon and it just won't let me post the not.

Also it will only let me select the yellow 'star' icon when the note posting does work. I see the other options in the drop down(the blue square pink diamond etc.) but it will not let me select it I get an addon error regarding the cartographer 3 notes.lua file.

I love this addon is there anyway to fix this? or is this just happening to me?

It seems Blizzard has changed the Icon texture - so some code has to be rewritten

Yay!! The waypoint arrow seems to work now.. however, when i'm adding a note, if i try to set a different symbol for the note, i get this error:
Interface\AddOns\Cartographer3_Notes\Notes.lua:439: attempt to index local 'iconData' (a nil value)

after this occurs, the note gets added to the map but with the star symbol instead of the one i selected.

Thanks for the continued work on this great mod.

I definitely like the zooming and scrolling ability... and the minimap texture (once it's all good to go). Looking forward to this one getting fleshed out.

Everything is working well so far except for my favorite feature, the minimap textures. Now they do not show up at all, and instead of seeing the blank map between closeups and distance maps it only occurs when I try to use the minimap textures.
I realy cant wait to see what Cart3 looks like once all of the bugs are worked out! Keep up the good work.

Although this is good, i liked older versions better, sorry... but you can make, a "Classic" version. thats an idea!
