Analyst

Table of Contents

About Analyst

Analyst collects information about the virtual economy and presents that information to the player. In its Economy panel, Analyst answers questions such as the following:

How much gold did I earn and how?
How much gold did I spend and on what?
How am I doing in the auction house?
What have I looted from mobs?
What items did I consume?
What items did I produce?
How many currencies (marks, badges, emblems) have I collected?
What have I deposited or withdrawn from the guild bank?
What is my gathering and crafting activity?
... and much more

All reports can be shown over a configurable period (days, weeks, month).

Screenshots

The Economy panel lets you choose between the various reports offered by Analyst. Also, the reporting period of time can be chosen. Central information is displayed in the top frame. Data from two selected reports in shown in the bottom frames.

Economy Panel

For the This Week report, the start day of week can be configured in the options. For example, a raid player may want to set the start day of week to the beginning of the raid ID period.

If you mouseover a statistic item, a tooltip provides detailed drill-down information on that statistic:

Usage

If you have a Lightweight Data Broker (LDB) container add-on such as Titan Panel, Analyst shows in that container. Left-clicking the Analyst icon toggles the Economy panel; right-clicking the icon shows the options.

If you do not have an LDB container, type /analyst economy to toggle the Economy panel and /analyst options to show the options.

Analyst provides a key binding to toggle the Economy panel. You may want to assign a key to that binding to gain quick access to Analyst.

I will remove the options button from the options panel. It is (obviously) redundant if you already are in that panel.

And yes, data is discarded after 30 days. Keeping all the detail information maintained by Analyst would generate more data than I am feeling comfortable with. The problem is not with the cummulative statistics, but the individual data shown in the tooltips that track (for example) each and every crafting activity.

How does one configure this? Clicking the options button does nothing, and '/analyst options' pops up the interface addons dialog (where the 'options' button under analyst continues to do nothing).

I'm asking particularly about "All reports can be shown over a configurable period (days, weeks, month). "

I would suggest that you create a key binding for the Toggle Economy Panel option. This allows you to bring up the Economy panel quickly. This has the same effect as the /analsts economy command mentioned by phosdex.

Beside that, UI integration is done via Lightweight Data Broker (LDB). If you have an LDP container add-on such as ButtonBin, you will get an icon for Analyst that brings up the Economy panel when clicked.

These are already being tracked. In order to access this data, just switch the display to the Currencies report and view the tooltips. If you find anything missing, please let me now :)

I have identified and fixed the problem preventing Analyst from capturing event data. The problem was related to the add-on loading order. Thanks for the feedback on this issue.
Please download and test Analyst 1.0.6 Beta 1.

I'm having the same problem. Tried deleting savedvariables and a clean install of Analyst and still doesn't track any info. Well on my one computer. On my other computer it tracks the info of characters I didn't ruin when the pop down menus didn't work. For example I tried to change something on one character and it stopped tracking stuff. On another character I never touched the menus and he still works fine.

I use the german version 1.0.5.
It dont save any rates.
Buying/selling etc - nothing 'll be saved :(
I have no other addons installed. No error message on the desktop.
Also the older versions - i tried now all - do not save any gold values.

The problem with the dropdown boxes is fixed in the current beta. Going for a new release version today.

This apparently doesn't collect any data for me. Sad. I was looking for exactly this kind of addon. Any viable alternative? Or any hope this gets fixed soon?

I love this addon and am frustrated. I can't access the drop down boxes to change days or other criteria. I get this error message: Date: 2009-02-03 17:32:27 ID: 1 Error occured in: Global Count: 1 Message: ..\FrameXML\UIDropDownMenu.lua line 501:

I am getting the following error...
analyst\Capture.lua line 1639: bad argument #1 to 'len' (string expected, got nil)

I get this at random times, still have not seen a pattern to what causes it.
