So what i would recommend, and which i think makes most sense, is that pet is always "beneath" party frames, because they are CHILDREN to the party frames.
Setting party frames to frame strata "LOW" and pet frames to "BACKGROUND" gives the expected behavior IMO.
EDIT: So changing it to "LOW" kinda screws up the Compact raid thingy, and the garrison workorders, so that wont work. Only thing i can confirm atm, is that the pet frames for party and arena are suddenly behaving in another way than it used to. I have fixed it by changing party / arena frames to LOW and the pets to BACKGROUND, and then setting the garrison window + raid frame to "MEDIUM".

I tried setting "SUFHeaderparty" to Frame strata "LOW" and it seems to "update" the unitframes and then the party frames are now displaying above pet frames, just like they used. I think changing all the unitframes to "BACKGROUND" have provided som unexpected behaviours we didn't see prior to this latest release.

Well it only occured after getting your new alpha update. In the latest release (v4.0.7) it works as intended. I figure it has something to do with the change "- Bump frame strata to fix raid manager/work order visual issues"
