What is the enhancement in mind? How should it look and feel?

I'd love to see  some kind of locking / memory functionality. I'll describe what I have in mind.

1. Ability to lock the map's location, but still move it easily by holding down CTRL key (or other) while dragging .

2. Creation of 2-3 save states (location / size / zoom) accessible via a separate cycling key.

3. User set-able default zoom state, rather than max zoom only.

4. Map opens to last zoom state, with variable time-out-to-default zoom option (-1 = no last zoom state and 0 = no time-out-to-default state)

5. A map button that isn't the quest button and a quest button that isn't the map button. Explanation below:
