HandyNotes

57 - Cannot move icons on map

This issue has been reported multiple times; Tickets 32 (Status: Fixed), 40 (Status: Duplicate), and 43 (Status: Duplicate).
It is not Fixed.

My steps:
1.Create new item.
2.View map, see that Note's icon appears in undesirable position. Ctrl-Shift-LeftClick and hold mouse button (LeftDrag) over icon. Icon itself disappears but Note's tooltip is attached.
3. Drag cursor to new location but there appears to be no way to release it at the new location. RightClick, LeftClick, Shift and Ctrl combos, etc. don't work.
4. Tap ESC to get out of map mode to release icon/tooltip and reset icon to former location.

What version of the product are you using?
1.4.7

Do you have an error log of what happened?
None created.

Please provide any additional information below.
Workaround:
1. Make note of the coordinates you would LIKE the icon to appear. This can have none, one or two decimal places.
2. Edit the HandyNotes.lua file in your \World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\{your acct}\SavedVariables folder.
3. Find the entry you wish to move. Search using the Title you assigned the Note.
4. Edit the line ABOVE and outdented from the ["title']. Replace the 8 digit string between the doublequotes with the location info you want to us. e.g. 45.67, 32.98 becomes ["45673298"]. If you want 43, 56 pad with zeroes, e.g. 43005600.
5. Save edited file and re-launch Wow.

    Update: Steps Taken

    • Launch WoW, disable ALL addons from System menu, exit Wow entirely.
    • Rename existing HandyNotes.lua in <Account>\SavedVariables folder.
    • Re-download fresh copy of HandyNotes 1.4.7 and unzip into existing folder.
    • Launch WoW, create new note, test Ctrl+Shift+LeftDrag; Failed. I'm going to assume that this is an interaction with something in Blizz's environment. Perhaps a complete rebuild would work. I'm not likely to put more time into this. It's just not that big of an issue on my end.

p.s. I don't think my workaround works, after all. *shrug*

Thanks for the feedback. I'll disable other addons and see what happens. I'll update here with what I find.

I just followed your steps and I can move icons just fine. Once I release the Left Button, the icon is dropped at the target location and remains there. So if it doesn't work for you, its possible that some other addon messes up the map for you.

Can't really tell you anything else.
