Hmmm, go to manual checks and updates until wowmatrix can devise a solution or something equally as good comes along and avoid curse whenever possible. I also make sure my Firefox has the current adblock addon installed. I have seen two explanations of how adblock works. One is that the page is still summoned ads and all but you never see the ads. The other is that the ads are blocked before being retrieved. Either way ads on curse will never dirty my browser. I wonder if that means curse is stealing ad revenue from hits that are not viewing any ads?
I will not submit to extortion from curse (aptly named) even if they believe they have a just cause. Inflicting unnecessary pain on the WoW user community is no way to make friends and (favorably) influence people.
What will replace it?
on 203 addons.. curse client identify 23, wowui client identyfy 5... oh yeah :D
Instead of fighting try to cooperate with wowmatrix, may be for an interface that presents all U think is missing. Pls leave wars to videogames
I run 183 addons now, with wowmatrix it took about 2 minutes to check versions and update them, now I have to do it by hand, I'v been working on it for a hour and a half now and I'v done about 90addons so far, on my day off.
I just wanted to thank Ace, Curse and WoWI for fucking us over on patch day. I'v seriusly lost all respect for what you guys do here.
Now that WowMatrix is dead, from an end-user point of view, I can just forget to update my 136 addons because simply there isn't a Mac working client left to do it.
So maybe you won a battle about the developers rights, and that's good for sure.
But I hope you are aware that part of your "customer base" is paying a very big price for your (maybe short) victory.
If you really want to win this war (and here I speak to Curse and WowInterface), just develop a serious, stable, user-friendly and portable client for Windows/Mac/Linux, it really isn't that hard nowadays.
I'm glad and sad at the same time. Seeking out each and every addon I have/had has been a hassale, however this does allow me the opportunity to revamp my addon use and my UI.
I could care less.
I do enjoy seeing all the people whining about it though.
@The moron below me:
If you are seriously updating more than one or two addons a week you don't deserve to use addons in the first place. Just because an addon makes an update, say putting another language file in, doesn't mean you need to update it.
Ok so wowace and curse have taken a util that made updating mods really quick and really easy so we could enjoy playing the game more instead of mod maintenance. I've used the curse client and it sucks. Wow Matrix listed the name and web site of the mod authors as well as a donate link for those authors that took donations. Now myself and all of my friends that use wow matrix are instead finding ways to cut most of our mods out so we dont have to waste so much time updating them which means mods i would be willing to donate too aren't going to get used and thus not receiving donations. Good job guys!
wowmatrix is amazing, id be willing to pay a one time flat rate fee just to use it again
