What should we do with regards to SVN?

  •   31.6% - Upgrade all the repos, and use hooks to ensure that people use 1.5+ clients - 325
  •   4.7% - Upgrade all the repos, and let 1.4 clients connect to them as well. - 48
  •   4.6% - Don't upgrade old repos (which are 1.4), just let the new ones be 1.6 repos - 47
  •   17.0% - Hide them in a dark dark place and convince people that SVN never existed in the first place. - 175
  •   42.2% - Repos? SVN? What are you talking about? - 434

IMHO for projects with a single developer SVN is better (because it is fairly simple) then any other DVCS. Commiting to a server instead to local reduce the chance anything is going to be lost and that is mostly what a lone developer wants from version control.

Since we have the option to use SVN or GIT adding a way to migrate from SVN to GIT (in case a new project grows or ppl prefer it) and updating SVN repositories to 1.5+ seems reasonable.

For someone (like me) who's only interested in the most basic features; why not SVN?

Why SVN (/CVS)? Bazaar, Mercurial, or Git is my suggestion.

I'm with serbaut on this.  svn is nice if people are really stuck in a cvs mindset and aren't really interested in branches.  But really people should use git or if they insist, mercurial.

Convert them to git and pretend subversion never existed.
