A useful feature would be able to use the "time since activated" for an aura as one of the trigger conditions. A common use case would be for buffs/debuffs like Wrack from the Sinestra encounter in Bastion of Twilight, or Unbound Plague from Professor Putricide (heroic) in Ice Crown Citadel or Wild magic from the Kalecgos encounter in Sunwell.
In these cases being able to display a timer from when the aura was activated would be useful for determining when to use defensive cooldowns or to negate the effect of the debuffs in other ways.
A second purpose could be to build auras for running uptime counters:
For example an aura applied when a unit (boss1, focus, etc) doesn't have some debuff (sunder armor, living bomb, beacon of light, etc). As that timer increments it counts the number of seconds the debuff has been off the target.This could be used as part of a display for DOT uptime for caster classes, HOT uptime for healing classes, etc. It could also be used for tracking boss abilities when learning an encounter.
