Quick Target Macros
Quickly builds /target macros for immediate use. I wrote it to help find mobs when solo questing. Too often, when a macro would've helped, I procrastinated making one because of the tedious process:
- /macro
- Find my /target macro.
- Edit the macro for the new target.
- Drag it onto my bars.
This mod reduces it to a single step:
- /qt mobname
Or even,
- /qt mobname1, mobname2, mobname3, etc.
The macro uses a temporary keybind, so you don't have to waste a real keybind on it; the bind only lasts as long as you have the macro active. I recommend binding it to your S-key, since it's easy to spam and you're unlikely to miss it for the brief time it's unavailable.
Use /qtm or /qtmacros for options, /qt or /qtname for building macros.
BTW I've learned of another mod with a name similar to this. I need a new name before I make a release version. Also I can't decide how to best present lists of names, and adding and removing of names, to the user. These are the big things keeping it as experimental.

Posted Oct 13, 2010I deleted my working copy of this when updating for 4.0. And it's really for the best because I was completely stuck with the changes I'd started, and couldn't decide how to finish them.
I'll still make this usable for Cata, but I'm not interested in making it a feature-complete, all-purpose targeting mod right now. It'll just be for quick, throw-away target macros, especially for tagging quest mobs.

Posted Sep 5, 2010I got distracted making an LDB plugin for toggling Windowed Mode. Apparently Cata beta has addons now though, so I'm going to work on this more today and see what more it needs to be good questing.

Posted Aug 31, 2010Oops, that error was from localization. The new version should fix it.
And yeah, the input boxes being too short is the main reason I said the UI is ugly and needs work. I figured out how to make them wider, but it's part of a big set of changes I won't have until the weekend probably.
I hadn't thought much about adding and removing targets one at a time. That's a good idea, but I might put it off for later. Would you need it much if alt-clicking quests just made a macro for all their targets?

Posted Aug 31, 2010Here is a little feedback on the UI if you want some. The only thing I dont care for is the "First Line & "Line" box is to short. If you make a mistake its hard to see it, all I did was copy & paste. Now you know what would be real cool is instead of doing /mobname is you click on the mob and right click the mob and get a drop down menu that has target 1, target 2 and so on. Great mod. Thanks

Posted Aug 31, 2010k, I changed Dismiss to ctrl-click, and confirmed that [button:2] works in macros with right-clicks. Also if you accidentally dismiss the button "/qtm show" brings it back.
I should have another version with a better config UI by this weekend, if I don't run out of time. I'm hoping to have a release version in 2 weeks.

Posted Aug 29, 2010The UI isnt that bad. Took me a minute to get but once I got it NP. Can you change Dismiss to Ctrl Click. I am use to using right click as well as left click and you right click the button and its gone. To easy to make a mistake. Plus it would be nice to use /cast [button:2] Arcane Missiles;Arcane Blast It coming along real nice. Thanks

Posted Aug 24, 2010I want to make templates with a header, a body, and a footer. And to accept multiple targets. And alt-clicking a quest will build a macro for the quest in one step. So if you had this quest http://www.wowhead.com/quest=6004 you'd get this:
/targetexact Scarlet Medic
/targetexact [noexists][dead] Scarlet Medic
/targetexact [noexists][dead] Scarlet Hunter
/targetexact [noexists][dead] Scarlet Knight
/cast Arcane Blast
So the part you want would be the footer, but the format would be configurable. And I want /qtname to take a comma-separated list for multiple targets, although I think alt-clicking quests will be more convenient most of the time. I'll see how much more I can get done this week!

Posted Aug 21, 2010I want the user to be able to change the 2-letter alias, but I have no timeline for that except Cataclysm; I'm making this so I can tag quest mobs faster in Cata, heh.
For now, any conflict can be gotten around by using /quartzt for Quartz Timer, which is probably a better idea anyway.
