Prat 3.0

212 - altnames not importing mains

My guild has altname info set in the guild public note as follows:

name guild info main main alt1 main's alt alt2 main's alt

the altnames modul of Prat has in the past correctly imported all of the above names. Unfortunatly lately I've noticed that altnames no longer imports the main character's name, though it still still import the alts.

I've tried manually changing the names of both alts and mains then reimporting (with the "don't overwrite.." option disabled) and confirmed that alts are changed back to their default values but mains are not.

This is easily fixed on our end by changing our guild notes, though it will be slightly misleading to have mains listed as alts. I felt I should make you aware of the development.

Details: I'm running Prat version 3.3.6 downloaded 21/01/10 from curse via the curse client I play on the EU Aggramar server on an english/UK client I have the following modules enabled, and the rest set to "don't load" altnames buttons channelnames channelstick copychat editbox fading font frames playernames popupmessage scroll telltarget urlcopy

I've confirmed that the problem persists when all other addons are disabled.

EDIT: As a side note while I'm here would it be possible for altnames to work with special characters? A few of my guildies have letters such as á é etc in their names ant altnames tends to only import the letters after the character (for examle "máin's alt" would be imported as "in")

patterns which match "<main>" aren't being imported (though form that link you posted this may have been intentional)

Ok, lets try to split this issue up into the various things that are being reported, i can see one issue is:

patterns which match <main>'s alt, don't support UTF8.

That link seems to be someone complaining about the functionality that I want. For main characters our guild note consists of just the main's name, and ideally I'd like them to be important as an alt of themselves so that their note shows as:

    Main (Main):

As the guild note is the name of a character in the guild, Prat used to import it as an alt and the person showed as above when typing. This functionality seems to have been broken or removed though. Was this an intentional change rather than a bug?

I can test the above by right clicking on a player's name and manually setting their main as a random string of letters, then using the Prat menu to re-import from guild (with overwrite enabled). alt's have their main's name imported, but the mains themselves are left with whatever random string of text I used.

I'm not very good at explaining this, I'll try and sort a few pictures out when there are more people online.
