13 - Contacts are not realm and faction specific
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Change profile to be something like Steve. Add a contact to a horde character on a server.
2. Log onto an Alliance character on the same server
3. Go to mailbox, change profile to be Steve and look at contacts.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expected to only see contacts from the same faction and same server I'm on.
I see all contacts for the account.
What version of the product are you using?
3.2.2
Do you have an error log of what happened?
No.
Please provide any additional information below.
I've created a Profile that all of my alts use.
When I add a contact on one server, that contact is showing on all servers.
Technically it would be possible for me to send an e-mail to the wrong character.
Also, horde contacts are showing on my alliance toons.
I'm going to fix this by creating Server/Faction specific profiles but that is going to be a lot of work.
I noticed in the savedvariables file that alts have the server and faction saved with them. Would be nice if contacts did that also.

s-conley Tue, 27 Oct 2009 23:31:20Let me give a scenario.
On ServerA, I have a contact PlayerX
On ServerB, I do not know PlayerX, but he shows as a contact since I know him on ServerA. I could very easily send an e-mail to PlayerX thinking he was the one from ServerA but in fact he is someone I don't know.
The problem is that my contacts carry across my account on all servers. There is really no reason I would want that to happen. Example (names changed to protect me) I create a bank toon called Fred (alliance) on most servers I plan on. Some servers already have a Fred that some other person created before I started playing on that server so I create a toon called FredA (A for aliance). The problem is that Fred still shows as a contact on that server even though I didn't create Fred on that server, nor do I know Fred on that server. And to make matters worse, I now have contact on my other servers called FredA who I may or may not know.

Xinhuan Wed, 21 Oct 2009 18:06:29I thought a bit more about this, and think this isn't really necessarily a bug. Your characters on the same faction/server might want to share a profile and they should also see the same contact list that either character can modify.
Still, I'll think a bit more on this.
