KillGuildGreet

Simple addon designed to block the default messages from GuildGreet or GuildGreet Extended.

Slash Commands

/kgg

How it works

  • Filters guild chat for known GuildGreet messages
  • Checks the sender of the message against a blacklist of GuildGreet users
  • If both come up positive the message is blocked
  • Currently blocks, greetings, relog greetings, level ups, achievements, guild welcomes, and promotions

Adding/Removing and the Blacklist

To add to the blacklist type /kgg add <name> where <name> is replaced by the name of the person using GuildGreet.

To remove from the blacklist type /kgg remove <name> where <name> is replaced by the name of the person to remove

Make sure you use the person's exact name, including capitalizing the first letter.

But the person's name has an accent character! I can't type it!

If the player's name contains accented characters you can shift-click on the player's name in the chatframe after you have typed /kgg add

FAQs

Why do you hate people saying "hello"?

I don't have any problems with people being friendly. I have a problem with an addon being used to replace human interaction. To be even more clear, I don't have any issue with GuildGreet per se. I think it is a fantastic addon when used properly. However, in my somewhat large guild there are people that use it with default settings and no main to alts linking. These people are fairly spammy with their greetings and it became somewhat annoying. Rather than trying to dictate addon usage to the guild, I wrote a small addon to filter specific messages so I wouldn't place the spammers on ignore.

Will this catch custom greeting messages?

No, it will not catch custom messages from GuildGreet. And no, it never will catch custom messages. As noted in the previous question this addon is designed specifically to stop the default, out-of-the-box usage of the GuildGreet. Such usage can be very spammy and bothersome in large guilds.

You are an evil and mean person for writing this.

Well that's not really a question... and I'm sorry you think I'm mean. My intention was to create a solution that was a middle ground between being annoyed by spam or placing a guildmate on ignore. If you think this addon is evil, or created by some malevolent author then you do not have to download or use this addon. Simple, no?
