Grid2

33 - Please : SavedVariablesPerCharacter?

What is the enhancement in mind? How should it look and feel?
Can you change the SV to be character specific?
It would allow us custom settings per character.

Please provide any additional information below.

I've changed this locally for me, and feel others would benefit from this change a lot as well.
I play the following classes : Enh/Ele shammy, Disc/Shadow Priest and a Balance/Resto druid. All have very different setups for Grid2, and per reset I do get the prefab settings perfectly, but I lose the ones I had on my other characters. So I beg of you, please push this through.

All it would require for others to benefit from this is a reset and a full one time set up per character.

    r343 now provides settings that are account wide which can be overridden by class settings, all of which can be overridden by spec/custom settings. Only healers have spec settings atm and custom ones can not yet be created.

    I am working through the issues with our new approach at the moment. I am hooking up indicators and statuses at the moment. After that I need to make editing work in the new scheme. At that point this issue goes away.

    The defaults thread has a discussion of it all.

    Not a bug, as the fact that, by default, each character shares the same profile is not a bug.

    We are currently thinking about changing the way Grid2 is using its SavedVariables, and as a result, it's very likely that character won't share the same setup anymore.

    Right now, you have to manually switch the profile of each of your character.

    I've changed this from enhancement to bug, since this is how it seems to be right now.

    I've done a complete wipe of my SVs, reinstalled a clean Grid2. Disabled all other addons. Still, I don't get the correct profile going.

    Steps I've followed: 1. Delete old SVs (while NOT in WoW) 2. Reinstall Grid2 3. Disable all addons straight after logging into the char select screen, only enable grid2 + its libraries. 4. Set up my Disc profile with Ynarah (char name). 5. Log out to save SVs. (At this point, I did see the profile creation in the SVs.) 6. Log into my Shaman with Sankha. 7. Make some changes. (Checked SVs, Sankha's profile was "profile", same as Ynarah, so I had all the Priest settings but none of the defaults of a shaman nor the ability to remove them in game.) 8. Log out to save SVs. 9. Log into Ynarah -> changes made on Sankha showed for Ynarah.

    In short, there is no NEW profile created, all my chars use the same profile. Other then manually changing profiles in the SVs, I don't see how to use various profiles with Grid2. If need be I can supply my SVs and screenshots. Issue seems to be that the profile is always named "profile", but no custom name is given. Don't know why though. But naming the profiles myself in the SV solves it.

    Grid2DB = {
    	["namespaces"] = {
    		["Grid2_StatusAuraGroup"] = {
    			["profileKeys"] = {
    				["Sankha - Earthen Ring"] = "profile",
    				["Ynarah - Earthen Ring"] = "profile",
    			},
    			["profiles"] = {
    				["profile"] = {
    				},
    			},
    		},
    		["status-debuff-Curse"] = {
    			["profileKeys"] = {
    				["Sankha - Earthen Ring"] = "profile",
    				["Ynarah - Earthen Ring"] = "profile",
    			},
    			["profiles"] = {
    				["profile"] = {
    				},
    			},
    		},

    Custom settings per character are already possible by using different profiles for each character.
