Grid

56 - Another way to show Health Deficit

What is the enhancement in mind? How should it look and feel?
I'd like to ask for a toggle to show HP deficit as HP is shown.
After every update I'm doing I go to its code and add 2 words on the  same line (doesn't change much between versions) to get the output in the attachment.
For Version: 1.30000.2009011501, the change is on line 256:
change "cur, max," to "max-cur, max,"

But why? In its out of the box version Grid shows deficit bars starting from the top of the unit frame and reaches to bottom as health drops further. What I'm modifying is like using HP deficit as HP, bars start from bottom and the highest bar is the highest damage received person (in percentage ofc)

Please provide any additional information below.

the problems (I know the majority is OK with it) as I see them are as follows:
- I don't need to have a screen with 25 colored squares if everyone is at full health.
- I'm not interested on which class a currently 100% hp character is
- I have trouble identifying/comparing deficit bar heights if they start from top and go down

Attached you can find a bad illustration of how things look like with the suggested change

Omg BWH hanks heaps bro. I was looking all over the internet to try to implement this *exact* same functionality.

I had it working on PitBull great, transparent for health, red for damage which builds left to right till people die when the red fills the bar. After healing for years I found this way is miles better and didnt want two totally contradictory styles of presentation on the screen at once.

This code change is awesome, I believe the changes have moved down about 10 lines

Also thc heaps Pasta for great addon - just bro dont be harsh on one dude there may be many others who dont know to come here

Just adding another screenshot to better illustrate the suggested view. People with the highest bars are the ones requiring most attention.

Sorry, I don't make changes to Grid for just one person.

Actually I don't think it will get any votes, Grid is out there for more than a year, maybe two and no one seems to have bothered with the way it works other than me. Perhaps people wouldn't like my proposal or simply they never thought of such way of showing health.

Could you at least add something like this? A variable "weirdouser" at the top of "GridStatusHealth.lua" which is default false. And change line 256 (for this version) from cur, max, to if weirdouser max-cur,max, else cur, max, end

This way only thing I'd need to do would be find the variable at the top and change it there. I don't really know how much impact a global scope variable would put to your addon, you'll be the judge of it anyway. I know its not a nice solution, but after this many versions its a bit repulsing to edit file at each update.

I think the best way to implement this would be to add a 'Show missing health' toggle option to the 'Health -> Unit Health' menu.

I'm not sure if I'm going to add it to Grid though.

Since this is an enhancement request, I'll leave the ticket open for comments and voting. I'll come back and look at it next week.
