Grid

337 - Grid fails to show proper raid size

What version of Grid are you using?
1.30300.1304

What version (and language) of WoW are you using?
3.3.5.12340
English

What were you doing when the problem occurred?
Anything over a 10 or 25 man raid (depending what the default raid size was set to via the Raid Leader's raid difficulty setting)

What happened? What did you expect to happen instead?
Grid would only show the player frames of the first 10 or 25 people instead of showing the full raid group.

Do you have an error log of what happened?
There is no error log, it appears that Grid does not support any raids of over the current expansion cap of 25.

Does the problem still happen when you disable all addons (including Grid plugins) except for Grid?
Of course not.

Please provide any additional information below.
Making Grid dynamically detect the raid size, or at the very least adjust for old world 40 man raids and battlegrounds is the obvious solution.  This has been an unchanging flaw in Grid programming in all the versions I have used.  I saw a similar ticket about this but the user hadn't provided required information, so Tada!

    Grid > Layout > [Group Type/Size] > Select "By Group 40"

I haven't seen an option for that but I'll look again. I read what u said, just I've never seen that option. This could be a conflict with another addon or me just being unable to find that setting. I'll look again.

Did you actually read what I wrote?

... manually switch your layout to a 40-man layout.

There's nothing in my post about setting the raid size to 40-man; such an option doesn't even exist in the game. Your ability to select a layout in Grid has nothing to do with the Raid Leader, or with the raid size/difficulty that is currently selected in the WoW client itself. The only relation is that if you are in a raid group, and that raid group is currently set to "25 Player" in the WoW client, Grid will use the layout you have selected under the "25 Player Raid" menu; this does not necessarily have to be a 25-player layout. You can simply select a 40-player layout under the "25 Player Raid" menu.

There's no way to manually switch the raid size to 40-man, the only options are 10 and 25 and it is based on the Raid Leader's so switching mine would have no effect unless I was the raid leader.

Unfortunately there is no clean way to support 40-man raids without maintaining hard-coded lists of translations for those zone names, as the Blizzard API (the set of functions addons can use to retrieve information from and interact with the game client) only makes available the current raid size and difficulty settings, even though those settings are ignored for 40-man raid zones. We intentionally removed the zone name translation support when this API was introduced, and have no plans to add it back.

If you're in a 40-man raid zone and you're actually doing it with 40 people (or at least more than 25) in your raid, the recommended solution is to manually switch your layout to a 40-man layout.
