32 - "Vehicle" status (UnitGUID branch)

(This ticket applies to the UnitGUID branch of Grid.)

It would be helpful to have a status to indicate when a player was in a vehicle; currently, since the vehicle's frame is colored and labeled the same as the player's frame, it is rather distracting (especially in 5-man parties) to see two of everybody. A "vehicle" status would allow me to, for example, darken and lower the alpha of any players who were currently in vehicles, as I already do for "out of range", "dead", and other statuses that mean I probably don't need to pay as much attention to a particular square as I do to a more visible one.

It looks like I'll be implementing this until it's possible to have the vehicle replace a unit's frame.

Hmm. That depends on whether or not the player will then show up as a pet. If so, a status would still be useful to reduce the visual prominence of the "pet" frame, since there would still be two frames for every player, one of which was untargettable (and thus unhealable). If not, then no, there wouldn't be much need for the status.

The goal is to have the vehicle replace the player when they are in a vehicle. Do you think having a separate status would still be useful once that is implemented?
