  I figured it out. Grid indicator icon bar is whats making my frames black. guess that mod needs an update.

  I get this as well since patch 3.2 but I tried the 2 fixes that are mention here and none of them work for me. I made a new profile and reload my ui and that didn't work it was just the old one and everything was still all black. I tried to remove range check and that did nothing.

  I tried to get rid of mana bars and that didn't do anything else either.

  I also removed my grid info from the saved variables folder and put in the new grid and the frames still came up black =/.

  am I going to have to clear my wtf folder to fix this ?

  I can put in the previous version that is on curse and those work for the most part they do have their problems but I can heal with them.

  Sorry more information for you:

  1.302 is the version I am talking about, downloaded via curse. Wow Version 3.2.0 In a party/raid.

  Also can not see more than 10, even if in raid of 25. I wondered if that had to do with the "new?" feature (or I just hadn't noticed it before) where numbers in raid are set under raid leaders UI.

  I too had this error (I have reverted - though not very successfully - to previous version). Beforehand I tried only loading Grid and no other addon, that did nothing, but then it did occur to me that I also use - and had loaded - GridManaBars (as probably most healers would). GridManaBars has not been updated and I do wonder whether perhaps it has something to do with this because of some of the comments below (above, wherever this post ends up appearing.).

  I really rely on Grid for healing and this is stressing me out :D so best of luck with fix.

  Disabling and enabling the addon grid (/grid standby) fixes the problem for that login session regardless of other addons loaded.

  I had to uncheck the Range checking.

  Gives me back HP bars (thank god!) but not having a visual range check is a real headache, specially while constantly dodging clouds P1 of Yoggy

  Please fix this and enable range checking again so I can keep my noob raiders alive :)

  Here's a work-around (painful, but seems to work consistently): - Create a second profile (go to the profile section, enter a new name, hit enter) - Choose "Copy from", and your old profile.

  For me this reliably makes the unit frames come back up from the abyss and show useful info again, at least until I log out. When I next log in, I have to do the "copy from" trick again. I just switch between the same two profiles.

  Also, I only have the "black unit frame" issue on one of my toons (my healer). On my main I had it briefly just after the update, but simply dismounting fixed it for me, and I have not seen it since (despite several logouts/logins). Copying my main's profile to my healer has not fixed it for my healer however (except temporarily as outlined above).

  Had to delete saved variables to get mine to go away. Changing any of the colors causes the black unitframe to reappear.

  Getting this with r1205 as well. A reload of the UI fixes it (for how long I'm not aware)

  Edit: I didn't get this error until Patch 3.2 update.
