Chinchilla Minimap

Example 1

Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.

Appearance
Allows changing of blip size, border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
Compass
A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
Coordinates
Show your location coordinates.
Expander
Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
Location
Show the name of your location more flexibly.
Move Buttons
Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
Ping
Show which team-mate pinged the minimap.
Position
Position the minimap and frames around it.
Range Circle
Show on the minimap where your range extends to.
Show / Hide
Show or hide various frames related to the minimap.
Tracking Dots
Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colour-blindness
Zoom
Use the mouse-wheel to zoom the minimap and zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).

I can disable the new textures but I cannot disable the entire feature.

Is it possible to make a new Tracking Dot skin that looks like the old blizzard ones before 4.1? I agree with mech6982 that the new ones are not very helpful and get in the way. They often cover up the yellow quest icon when targeting a npc. Is it possible to scale down the big blizzard skin that you already have implemented? I have tried bringing down the blip size in the appearance tab on blizzard big but to bring it down to normal scale makes the character arrow too small.

    Love the addon and thanks.

So far it seems that the Broker_Location update fix WORKS.

Now if I can just figure out why the minimap tracking icons flash.  It's not Chinchilla's fault.

Well, I just did an update to Broker_Location that seems to have fixed the issue. I have no idea WHY that was what was causing it when enabling/disabling/re-enabling other addons was/wasn't fixing it, but per the comments on Broker_Location's Curse page, he was doing something that threw it out of whack.

I've had a good play around over the last few hours, and the only problems I've had are when I use the sliders (they've never worked properly anyway - I'm seriously considering getting rid of them).
Dragging the minimap around appears to work fine for me. I'm suspecting a conflict, but I have been wrong before. :)

In all honesty, Chinchilla's positioning logic desperately needs a re-write. Perhaps now is the time to make a start on it...

Here is a workaround until the Chinchilla wizards figure out the problem.

    1. Uncheck "Enable" in the Position tab so Chin's own repositioning code is turned off.

    2. Install the MoveAnything addon.

    3. In the MoveAnything UI (an extra button is added on the <Esc> game menu), expand the "Minimap" tree, check the "Mover" box on Minimap, then drag the minimap frame where you want it. I had to do the same with Tracking Button - everything else is grabbed in my UI by MiniMapButtonFrame. Uncheck the Mover boxes and close the UI.

    4. Adjust the desired shape of the minimap and the Zone text using Chin's UI as normal. Now you're set!

I have the exact same problem and it's comforting to read about it here.  I spent two hours trying to trace the incompatibility - it's frustrating.  I do suspect Ace3 though.

I use Addon Control Panel so it's easy to turn addons on and off - if I load Chinchilla ONLY then I can locate it anywhere.  As I restore other addons it stays good, but eventually - I was in the T's - the problem reappears.  But if I back out the last few addons the problem stays!!

For now I am making do with an inferior solution using MoveAnything to put the Blizz minimap bottom center for my "Pseudo Spartan" layout.  Let me know if I can test anything.

The clamped change didn't fix it for me. Disabling Bazooka did, but changing the strata - like has been posted elsewhere - didn't fix it either. (Clamped BTW is a checkbox at the top of the Position module in game.)

It's weird, because you can move it within a certain "band" at the top of the screen, but even manually entering the coordinate you want won't work.

Someone on Curse's comments for Bazooka said that it might be Ace3 causing it, because they reverted, then it came back when Ace3 updated.

EDIT: Also, disabling SickOfClickingDailies' Alt Tracker (and only the Alt Tracker) fixes it for me. Something is real screwy somewhere.
