Chinchilla Minimap

Example 1

Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.

Appearance
Allows changing of blip size, border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
Compass
A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
Coordinates
Show your location coordinates.
Expander
Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
Location
Show the name of your location more flexibly.
Move Buttons
Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
Ping
Show which team-mate pinged the minimap.
Position
Position the minimap and frames around it.
Range Circle
Show on the minimap where your range extends to.
Show / Hide
Show or hide various frames related to the minimap.
Tracking Dots
Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colour-blindness
Zoom
Use the mouse-wheel to zoom the minimap and zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).

An option to hide Blizzard's boss unit frames has been added in version
v2.1.1-8-g510978b. I don't see why DXE and others just don't hide them themselves... lazy mod authors! :@

Border/texture/font controls is a good idea. I'll have a crack at it later.

Would you be willing to to add border/texture/font controls to the Location and Coordinate elements?

I would like to remove the boss frames from my screen but cannot find an option to turn them off.

I am able to move the boss frames but cannot push them off my screen.

I run DXE so I already get the frames I need on fights such as gunship and council. I would really like to remove these huge ugly frames from my UI.

I also heard a rumor that the Manager of this addon has quit playing the game, so I am wondering if I should be looking for another map mod that will get regular updates as needed.

Any help would be appreciated, Thank you.

Somehow I lost my profile setup and I'm having to reconfigure everything, but I'm having problems. Before I was able to move buttons like the calendar and the time right to the edge of the screen. Now however, there's like a 1/2 inch margin and even if I type in the offset manually, it just reverts to the slider bar max and i can't get these things close to the edges. I hate having them out in my screen real estate. Is there something I'm overlooking?

Thought I'd ask about hiding the minimap Location bar... the default one, that is. Cuz Chinchilla lets me have one, and I like it better... plus I can color it and make it smaller. So is there a way of hiding that default one? Seems like I used to have something that would hide it, but I have no idea what it was. And I've used the checkbox in the hide/show menu within Chinchilla's GUI, but it doesn't hide the default location bar.

Also, I'm having trouble with the colors for the compass. Coloring for everything else works fine. But with the compass, no matter what color I choose, it turns the compass letters to some shade of red.

Another minor bug I'm getting is when I go to the Tracking Option in Chinchilla and choose the tracking icon name that's kinda a weird name (not Blizzard default and not the spheres ones), the tracking "dot" for my pet on the minimap becomes a red hazard triangle on my minimap with the number, umm, 16? in it. (trying to do this from memory)

In any case, thank you for the great addon. I'm enjoying it muchly. =)

Hi, Just wondering if its possible to reproduce the same bug in Chinchilla that I'm having almost consistently, where the appearance module seems to fail and reverts to default size during random events such as opening bags, changing zones, starting combat, selecting targets etc.

It's able to save all of my settings like buttons, placement and size, however when this appearance "module" (as it is labeled in the menu) fails somehow, only the size will revert to 50%, keeping the border type/color/opacity as is.

When I reopen the settings menu and go to appearance, I can fix the size bug for anywhere from 15 seconds to 3 minutes by either readjusting the size slider away from its current preferred 200% to say 205% and back to 200% before clicking okay (it always shows 200% as the text setting even when the graphic has resized to 50%) or by clicking the "disable" appearance module box and reclicking "enable" to restore the saved 200% setting.

Hope this makes sense, I'm running a host of other mods, including one questhelper but nothing else like a map mod is running.

If you track down what causes the size to reset/fail, please share any possible remedies to improve this great mod ! :D

    @failrous:
I've not noticed this... the flags and arrows show up fine for me and I've been to the Culling of Stratholme more times than I'd like.

I don't know if its a bug or not, but, For instance: I'm in Caverns of Time Stratholme and when the White Flag comes up to show where the next wave is, it doesn't show on the minimap unless you're near it so I have to rely on others to start walking towards the next area so I can tank the mobs. Is this a bug? Intentional? The default minimap shows the flag from afar but Chinchilla doesn't and I wasn't sure if I should put in a ticket or not.

Look at that subtle off-white coloring... The tasteful thickness of it... Oh my God, it even has a watermark... ferous.wowinterface.com

Good add-on. Far less buggy than SexyMap.
