Chinchilla Minimap

Example 1

Chinchilla Minimap alters the Blizzard Minimap in a way to provide much nicer features and other niceties.

Appearance
Allows changing of blip size, border style, shape of the map (doesn't have to be circular, or even square, lots of options are available), size, etc.
Compass
A more flexible north-east-south-west indicator.
Coordinates
Show your location coordinates.
Expander
Make the minimap very big temporarily (good for gathering or finding a tough-to-spot enemy).
Location
Show the name of your location more flexibly.
Move Buttons
Move the buttons around the minimap to wherever you want (even off the minimap entirely).
Ping
Show which team-mate pinged the minimap.
Position
Position the minimap and frames around it.
Range Circle
Show on the minimap where your range extends to.
Show / Hide
Show or hide various frames related to the minimap.
Tracking Dots
Change the dots on the map to a different set of images. Very handy, especially if you suffer from colour-blindness
Zoom
Use the mouse-wheel to zoom the minimap and zoom out the map automatically after 20 seconds (or so).

I disabled the module and uploaded the changes by mistake. All fixed now.

So what happened to the "Tracking Dots" option in the latest build?

Just so you all know... Chinchilla appears to work fine on the Cataclysm beta.

Please ignore my earlier request. I figured out a way to switch the .blp files from pocketplot to .tga and replaced the Big Blizz and Glass Sphere files with these. Working great and never been happier. Thanks for the addon. so happy I can finally use it.

Got another one - Lately, the position of buttons, eg. PVP & LFD, in X/Y status won't be saved in profiles nor in Character specific SavedVariables. Or i'm just to stupid right now.

Twidget: I've fixed the Tracking and LFG borders. The calendar one sadly cannot be fixed.
    DasFaultier: Working on it.
Doe: I don't know how Skinner works but I'll look into it.

Hi, Question... Under "Appearance" configuration there is an option to set the "Button border opacity". I expected that is I set this to 0 the borders on the buttons around the minimap would be hidden so I set it to 0 and it did exactly that but only for the Mail button. The Tracking, Calendar, and LFG buttons all still had borders. Does this setting not effect those on purpose or is that a bug?

I like no borders. I set the minimap to no border as well. If this was not meant to get rid of those borders is there another mod ne1 can suggest that will get rid of them?

    Thanks, Twidget

PS Oh! and great mod btw!

    Aloha,

maybe i'm not the first to mention this, but ChinChilla "swallows" some buttons - e.g. WorldMapButton. But i didn't even got an error or anything - it's just lost. I tried everything, even set the position and status via .lua and so on, but nothing works. Every pther map-Addon is able to show it, but i don't like to use another AddOn, cause they suck.

Seems to be since RubySanctum has been added to my weekly-farm-list . -> A: v2.1.3-8-g73443c0 for 3.3.5 didn't change the situation.

    greetz

This is probably a really ignorant question.. but here goes.

Basically I'm using the 'skinner border' for every one of my addons (matching and all), and i figure its something to do with sharedmedia. Is there any way to allow this mod access to it? or something? as it is the only borders that can be used are the ones that come with it. :(

edit: or maybe add support for buttonfacade? cause a minimap is sort of a really big button...maybe..ish.. >.>

    Hiya,

I was wondering if there was anyway you could add another set of tracking dots? I've tried changing the tga with GIMP but I just don't have the skill. I need something like Pocket Plots, which I'm using now, because I can't use the default blizz tracking dots and the other Chinchilla options run together too much for me to get a grip on. Anything with different shapes and thick borders so I can tell players apart from NPC's would be great. Thanks.
