158 - Slows Model Loading
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Have a crappy PC (Slowish CPU, Low Memory)
2. Start WoW
3. Have a picnic while you wait for models to load (20m is my record!)
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
In previous versions of Cartographer, Models load quickly. (2 minutes, max)
What version of the product are you using?
v3.0 0.9.1
Do you have an error log of what happened?
No error log.
Please provide any additional information below.
This is a great mod, but this is definatly a showstopper for me.

Stone884 Mon, 01 Dec 2008 11:36:57In detail I have the same problem with Cartographer 2.0 *and* 3.0, though it first came up in Cart3. Then I reverted to Cart2 and it worked - for about 2 weeks, wehen Cart2 exploded in memory as well.
A thing I noticed is that when Cart3 is enabled, the WoW memory usage goes up from ~700MB to about 1,6GB. The slowdown is therefore most likely because of the HDD speed, as a great chunk of the game is in virtual memory.

Clarox Thu, 04 Sep 2008 21:10:46My guess is that Cart3 loads the entire map at a time, which causes a significant overhead. Perhaps the model used to load the map can be altered, to reduce overhead. Unless the map is open all the time and zoomed all the way out, there is no reason to immediately load anything else but the zone(s) displayed.

GleebTorin Mon, 01 Sep 2008 04:37:08Just to make it clear, it's not the character select screen that's having problems, as the mod isn't loaded yet. This does, in fact, affect mob models too.
I can confirm that it's Cart3, as when I disable it and re-enable Cart2, it goes back to the previous behavior.
Seriously, I love Cartographer3. It's an awesome mod. It works well and it behaves well, but the model loading thing is a serious issue.

pcvii Mon, 25 Aug 2008 04:32:22i can also confirm this happens to me as well. It takes a good deal longer to load my character model with this mod enabled. It loads just fine with it disabled.

Clarox Sat, 23 Aug 2008 16:09:02I can confirm a recent sporadic increased slowdown in character-model-loading, but I haven't been able to pinpoint whether it's Cart3 or another change that happened in the near past.
