203 - Cartographer Notes GUI creation no longer works after today's WoW minipatch
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load - - as the only mod besides ACP - - Cartographer (revision below) with all its libraries embedded (and individually updated). Do not have GuildPositions, InstanceNotes, InstanceMaps or Waypoints loading, though. Also have a large database of self-made & guild-member-received Notes.
2. Log on. Open the world map; currently in the zone Elwynn Forest. All previous Notes for that zone appear fine. As do the normal mouseclick-functions for zooming the map, adjusting the scale and so on.
3. Then try CTRL-clicking to create a new note in the zone. The small frame with "Create a new note" and "Cancel" appears.
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected: when clicking "Create a new note", a further GUI frame appears where you can enter the Note name and various details (as it has in the past). Instead: no further frame appears and nothing happens, no matter how often you click "Create a new note".
What version of the product are you using?
r2329
Do you have an error log of what happened?
No errors.
Please provide any additional information below.
Its been quite a while since I last used Cartographer; have it disabled on my two 80 raiding characters due to its long standing, unfixed bug preventing Blizzard right-click menus from working in instances. But started a new alt character recently. So am using it again as there is nothing I can do with all the old notes I have recorded with Cartographer, other than continue to use it.
Thus I don't know whether today's WoW "mini-tool patch" downloaded to USEnglish sever/clients has affected the GUI note creation or not. But it may have.
Two things: using the "/note (coord) (coord) (title)" command line to create notes works fine, but is quite a hassle. But not via the GUI, as reported. EDIT: Also, right-clicking existing notes to bring up the GUI to edit them does not work either; the edit frame does not appear. The only thing that works with existing notes via the GUI frame is deleting them.

Zidomo Fri, 13 Nov 2009 02:14:25Through far too much testing, finally discovered the problem. Cartographer is seriously &*^%ing up loading/dealing with its own LOD (load on demand) submodules.
All submodules are installed in separate folders and all of their TOCs have "
LoadOnDemand: 1". With Cartographer & Cartographer_Notes loading only, the above noted problem occurs. With those & all its other submodules loading, the problem still occurs. That + a normal mod load: ditto.But...when I do one of two different things, the problem disappears and I can access the create-note GUI frame:
1) Uncheck Cartographer_LookNFeel so it doesn't load at all. Log into WoW. Open the map, try to create a note and run into the above problem. But then...open OptionHouse and load Cartographer_LookNFeel manually in-game.
Go back to the world map and sure enough...the GUI note frame appears as expected.
2) Instead of the above, exit WoW, head into Cartographer_LookNFeel's TOC and delete the "
LoadOnDemand: 1" line. Normal mod load, all submodules loading, etc.., start up and log on WoW, the problem is gone again. The curiosity is that on a different character with the exact same mod load (Cartographer, the identical submodules loading as the character with the problem & OptionHouse), the problem never occurs even without doing 1) or 2) above. Only happens on a new character I created recently. Tested using different profiles, using identical profiles and on and on. Its not a profile issue. The only two things that resolve the problem on the one character are as noted above.
I'm going to do a quicky commit to remove "
LoadOnDemand: 1" from Cartographer_LookNFeel within the week if none of the maintainers are around.- #1
Zidomo Tue, 10 Nov 2009 10:15:47EDIT: As changed in the ticket above, further testing shows that editing existing notes doesn't work at all either. Right-click an existing note, click "Edit note" and nothing happens. You can, though, delete existing notes.
Also, the same problems occurs with the earlier release revision r2328/v2.5.6.
