Tip of the Raid is a new Big Wigs or oRA3 feature that we would like to introduce soon. As some of you might already know, oRA3 is nearing completion with the main tank addon currently being the only missing piece of the puzzle. We're also in the process of rewriting Big Wigs to use the Ace3 framework, completely redoing the interface options for it and updating the encounter script API to be easier on the developer, putting the power more easily in the hands of you, the "pro" guilds.

Tip of the Raid is not a feature for you guys. It's a feature for the masses of average raiders out there, and it's a feature meant to promote Big Wigs and/or oRA3, but also your guild and website.

• Your website and guild tag on display whenever one of your tips are shown (random tip by default, so the more tips you give, the bigger chance)
• The author gets his main toons name and class (and optionally real name or alternate nick, if preferable) displayed in the tip window.
• The satisfaction of spreading your wisdom to the masses, and of thinking that you're doing something good every day to help out the thousands and thousands of people who use our addons.
• You'll be even more recognized than you are now, people will be reminded about your guild outside of the "raiding season" (when new content is released), hopefully boosting the visits to your websites.
• Educating the masses, so hopefully your next recruit will be a bit more up to speed on how he should be behaving, and helping to grow the World of Warcraft raiding community as a whole.

While the plans are not set in stone, the window might look something like this.

Note that this is just a demonstration screenshot, the actual tip text was borrowed from stratfu.com. Calebv was giving me insight into what he thinks about the feature when this screenshot was taken, so I put his name and guild tag+website up there.

You will get to submit as many raiding tips as you want, with the 3 text labels presented in that screenshot customized per tip, that is: Header, Text and Footer.

If the footer contains an URL, it will be made clickable, the user will get a textbox up with the URL preselected, so he can copy+paste it into his web browser.

A "Tip of the Raid" is a general raiding tip that applies to all dungeons, classes or roles. Although we will probably accept tips that fall into all the following categories:

• General raiding tip
  • (example: "Always bring your towel!")
• Fun tips
  • (example: "Did you know that if you wear a hat in real life while raiding, your spell power is boosted by 20%?")
• Class-specific tips
  • (example: "Death Knights make fine healers, just equip them with a microphone and let them yell at your raid members on VT to "stay alive ffs!".")
• Role-specific tips
  • (example: "You tank best when you have your back turned towards the target.")
• Ability-specific
  • (example: "When a boss uses an AoE fear ability, just wipe.")

The example tips above are intentionally useless and untrue, they're just examples. Also note that while the above raiding tips contain only a few words, there currently is no limit to how long your tip can be. But be reasonable. If you're above 75 words in a single tip, think carefully about what you're writing.

Remember that each tip has to include 3 things; Header, Text and Footer. If you have any thoughts on this or comments, we're always open to suggestions.

This idea is still in its infant stages, and we are relying on you and your guilds to provide feedback and thoughts on the whole concept.
