ArcHUD3

39 - Damage shield

It would be really good if you could implement a way to show damage shields.

One of the most important death knight tanking abilities is the mastery ability utilised by the Death Strike ability. If you're not familiar with Death Strike, it heals you for up to 25% of the damage taken in the last few seconds (as well as doing damage.) The mastery ability causes a percentage of that heal to be placed on you as a damage shield, (a buff called blood shield.)

There is an addon that does this called blood shield tracker.

But I find it much easier to see when it's displayed next to my health arc.

At the moment I've set a custom ring to appear when Blood Shield is up, next to my health bar. This shows me when blood shield is active, and how long it has left before the 10 seconds of it being active is up. However an enemy can damage and break the shield before the timer runs out, which I have no information on.

So I'd like an Arc that indicates the health of my blood shield. The <max value> of the arc should be set as the max value that the blood shield has, which should reset when out of combat AND when the blood shield buff has faded. This way the death knight can see the health of their blood shield go down accordingly. A timer displayed next to the arc to show if the buff is about to fade would also be good.

Note that in 4.0.3 the blood shield is over written whenever Death Strike is used, but in 4.0.6 the shield health is intended to stack. So if your Blood Shield Arc was full, and you used Death Strike, the value would increase but of course the arc would remain full. I'm sure you get the picture.

If this is implemented it would be amazing! I would have thought it'd be simple enough considering health bars and buff timers are already in the addon, but I'm not familiar with how to make addons so I can't do it myself! If you could implement it it'd be amazing!

Thanks.

As of v2.3, total absorbs are displayed as part of the health bar. Specific absorb spells won't be tracked, though (given that this involves combat log parsing and guessing).

MoP will probably change this one. I'll leave it open for votes, though.

Awesome, even rough estimates to the shield would be great. At the moment I'd just like to see if my shield is about to fail or if it has enough health to last, so I know when to reapply it.

Another good feature would be the other thing that Blood Shield Tracker does, giving you an estimate on how much health you'll receive when using Death Strike. If that could be displayed as another arc it'd make ArcHUD a very powerful Death Knight tanking tool.

The main issue is that there is no API to get the current value of the Blood Shield. BloodShieldTracker does a lot of guessing based on the combat log. I might try to get into contact with the author and ask whether he is willing to provide an interface to his calculated data.
