Addons from WowAce.com http://http://www.wowace.com//addons/ The latest addons from WowAce.com en-us Wed, 16 May 2012 21:39:28 +0000 WowAce.com (http://www.wowace.com) Maleante http://www.wowace.com/addons/maleante/
Maleante project description

Maleante is NOT a stand-alone addon. It is the Spanish-language player piece of a custom quest, which is part of a federally funded research project being conducted by a team of academic researchers from Colorado State University, the University at Albany-SUNY, and Concordia University. It is only fully functional when used as part of the SCRIBE study in a group with the researcher. If you are not planning to take part in the study, please do not use this add on. If you want to participate, sign up at http:www.scribes.colostate.edu/espanol.html

The game portion of the add on generates quest windows, overhead text, sound, quest logic (e.g., is everyone standing in the right place to solve the puzzle?), and images that are used to play the custom-built quest in WoW. The recording portion of the add on sends local, party, and whispered chat - but NOT Real ID chat - to a designated researcher who is the party leader. It also sends location much like the add on Quest Helper, and records combat, jumps, and emotes. It registers and sends class, race, gender, and stats. It sends these things to a designated researcher *only* when players are in a party with the researcher, and recording requires a manual start by the researcher that only works when players are in that party with him. Even if others download the add on, they cannot play the custom quest, nor can they record anything themselves using this add on.

The way we save the chat and location data is by sending messages to the researcher's toon while players are still in game. The add on doesn't send or do anything at all remotely. Once players leave the study session party, no data are recorded or sent anywhere. Unlike add ons such as Auctioneer, our add on does NOT combine or apply the data recorded with data from other sessions.

Maleante doesn't record anything else that goes on in players' computers, and once they leave the party, it stops doing anything. It will *not* capture anything before they join the party, nor will it capture anything they do outside the party or outside WoW, even during sessions. Add ons are unable to access logins, passwords, or any other personal information.

The add on follows Blizzard's guidelines for add ons, their EULA, and ToS very carefully. This is federally funded research being conducted by academic researchers, and we have rigorous review processes to protect participant privacy and rights.

The project seeks to understand how people act and interact in the World of Warcraft. To do that, we need to record the chat and movement of ONLY those players who sign up and formally consent to participate in the study. The data we collect will be used to analyze patterns in how people chat and move when playing during their session. No names will be used in analysis, and participation is anonymous. No profit, donations, or payments are requested or accepted by the researchers for player use of this add on.

This project has been approved by the University at Albany Institutional Review Board, Colorado State University’s Institutional Review Board, and the Air Force Research Lab Institutional Review Board for ethical research with human subjects. Approval of this project signifies that the procedures adequately protect the rights and welfare of the participants.
Wed, 16 May 2012 21:39:28 +0000 http://www.wowace.com/addons/maleante/ http://www.wowace.com/addons/maleante/ no-reply@wowace.com () RaidBuffStatus http://www.wowace.com/addons/raidbuffstatus/

Table of contents

1 About
2 Twitter
3 Public Videos
4 Videos created by the RBS author
5 The Unique Selling Points of RaidBuffStatus are
6 Current checking abilities
7 Tank warnings
8 How to use it
9 Dual Spec
10 Tank List
11 Support
12 Forum
13 Screen shots
14 Gold Donation

Reports on a configurable dashboard or to /raid or /party on consumables, buffs, AFK, mana, aura, talent spec and many many others but in an intelligent automagic way. It shows the information on a dashboard much like XRS. It can report via whispers and to raid chat. In addition it provides a talent spec window which also shows any special abilities such as improved spirit.

However it is quite unlike XRS, Bigbrother and most other buff checking addons. It was the first released (8th March 2008) addon to intelligently, in an automagic way, know what buffs to check for. For example only if there is a Mage will it check for intellect buff and it does not check the buffs of those not in the same zone. As much as possible is automatic.

Addons like XRS require lots of initial configuration. RBS works with no configuration out of the box. However RBS now features a Buff Wizard to help new user non-raid leaders to configure only the buffs they need to be displayed.

RBS can do the buffing for you such as your self and party buffs with a quick right-click.

RBS supports addons like Titan using LibDataBroker.

Twitter

Follow RBS on Twitter: http://twitter.com/raidbuffstatus.

Public Videos

Top 5 addons of 2009: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sh7J44ifUeE

Quick informational video about RaidBuffStatus made by a user: http://www.mefeedia.com/entry/world-o.../18161756

Short video about some of the RaidBuffStatus options made by a user: http://inevitableraid.com/?p=3696

RBS being used in a ToC raid. It has different warnings according to who taunts; taunts, ninja taunts (someone taunting your target you are tanking), your taunt fails, other people's taunt fails and when a non-tank taunts your target. Ninja taunts are when the mob is targeting you which, in theory, means you are tanking it. It might be changed to take into account threat but so far it seems reliable without that.

The most interesting feature is that it can even tell you about mobs being taunted off you which you are not even targeting.

How to use it

When you join a party or raid the dashboard main window will open. (Alternatively click on the mini-map icon to toggle the dashboard open and closed). It will automatically know what to check for. If you want to disable a check then click the icon representing that spell. Click again to re-enable. RBS does not know if you want to check for Shadow Protection so that one single button you will have to disable or re-enable as needed.

To report to raid or party click Trash or Boss. You need to be in a party or in a raid and be the leader or assistant to do this. Trash assumes all buffs except elixirs and soul stone. Boss assumes all buffs. To report only on one buff, Shift-Click on the icon for that buff. To send a whisper to someone missing a buff, Control-Click on the icon for that buff.

It is as simple as that.

To initiate a ready check click R button.

To view the spec information on people in the raid click the top left menu button. This window can be sorted by any of the columns by clicking on the buttons above the column itself. The spec is gathered as soon as a person is within inspection range and cached for the duration of the raid. Considering you will have to gather up at the start or outside before you begin it is highly likely to have all the info when you need it.

In the top right there is a menu button which opens an options window. In that window you can do things like configure which buffs to check and when and so on.

Raiders in groups 6, 7 and 8 are ignored for buff checking as these groups are often used for substitutes. This is configurable.

Dual Spec

RBS copes with Dual Spec by re-reading talent specs any time they change it. You need take no action when someone changes spec as it is completely automatic.

Tank List

RBS tries to automatically spot who the tanks are. It does this in two steps. First it looks at the tank list. (Every raid uses a tank list right?) It can use many tank list systems in common use including anything compatible with the Blizzard tank list, oRA2, ctra, or xperl. Then it looks at the talents and class of the players on the list to check they could tank. It will ignore players who are not tanks (eg Priests) that are only being used for following DPS or other scenarios.

Support

For support, problems, feature suggestions, etc go here: http://www.wowace.com/projects/raidbu.../tickets/

Forum

For comments go here: http://forums.wowace.com/showthread.php?t=11183...

Screen shots

http://www.wowace.com/projects/raidbu.../images/

Gold Donation

If you like the addon then why not send the character Danielbarron on the Kul Tiras server on the Europe servers some gold? The current value is key thing to use.

Disappears when the Blood Shield buff ends.

Estimate Bar

Predicts the size of the Death Strike heal or Blood Shield based on the damage in the last five seconds. Because that calculation occurs on Blizzard's servers, there are timing issues and the amount could be wrong compared to the actual value received.

The bar will fill based on how close you are to getting the minimum Death Strike heal or Blood Shield value.

The bar changes from red to green if you will get more than the minimum Death Strike heal or Blood Shield value (i.e., an optimal heal or shield value).

The user can configure if this bar predicts the Death Strike heal or Blood Shield value.

Power Word: Shield Bar

Shows the current value of the Power Word: Shield on you. It is shown when a shield is on you and hidden when no PW:S is on you.

By default this bar includes the Divine Aegis shield too. The following statistics are provided for the session and for the last fight:

The total number of blood shields.

The number of shields refreshed. This is the number that are re-applied before the previous shield was removed (i.e., stacking).

The number of removed shields.

The minimum, maximum, and average shields maximum/starting values. The maximum value is the full, initial value of the shield.

The total amount absorbed by the shields, the total value of all shields, and percent of the shields used. This lets you see how much of the shields were used to absorb damage.

In addition, for the last fight it provides:

The duration of the fight.

The average number of seconds between Blood Shields (or successful Death Strikes).

The LDB can be configured to use a shorter label and can also set a data feed to display values such as the last Death Strike, last Blood Shield, and the Estimate Bar value.

Options

Blood Shield Tracker provides several configuration options. It also supports LibSharedMedia so fonts and textures loaded there can also be used. It also provides full support for profiles.

You can change the following:

If the minimap button is shown. The addon also provides an LDB data feed.

Whether a bar is shown.

If a bar is locked and cannot be moved.

The width, height, and scale of the bars

The font, font size, and font options of the text on the bars

Whether the background/bar is shown or just the text.

The color of each bar and bar text, including setting the minimum and optimal heal colors.

The texture to use for each bar.

Whether a bar has a Blizzard-style border around it.

The format of the text on a bar.

Skinning

Blood Shield Tracker provides support for skinning. In particular, it will match the look and feel of ElvUI and Tukui. There are settings in the configuration to control it selectively. By default, it will override the textures, font, and borders of the bars to match the UI. The user will just need to position the bars to where he or she would like them. If you do change the Skinning settings, you will need to reload the UI since the changes are only made when the addon loads.

If you need to access the configuration but cannot find it, you can always type /bst in a chat window.

Enhancements and Bugs

You can use the Ticket Tracker at Wowace to report bugs or request enhancements: http://www.wowace.com/addons/blood-shield-tracker/tickets/

Please leave detailed information on the problem or request.

Issue in 4.2

There was a change in 4.2 with combat log events that causes the Blood Shield Tracker to no longer account for absorbs to the blood shield. I'm releasing 0.11 which will, by default, use another method of tracking the blood shield value. This method should work for now until Blizzard responds to this issue. The change wasn't announced so it may just be a bug. If you are using 0.11 and want to revert to the old method you would need to go into the options and un-check the new "Use Aura" option. Until it is fixed though, the Blood Shield will not have the correct value if that isn't checked. It will only show the maximum value and not the current value of the shield.

UPDATE: It is now 4.3 and this hasn't changed. This addon will continue to use the aura for updates until they change it. If they never change it, then it will always rely on the aura.
Sun, 13 May 2012 05:37:08 +0000 http://www.wowace.com/addons/blood-shield-tracker/ http://www.wowace.com/addons/blood-shield-tracker/ no-reply@wowace.com () Skada Damage Meter http://www.wowace.com/addons/skada/
Skada is a modular damage meter with various viewing modes. It is inspired mainly by Assessment, but also by Recount.

Skada sports segmented fights and detailed views, while being highly efficient with memory. This is accomplished by aggregating data on fight segments.

Skada is entirely modular; the modes listed below are all separate addons. Only the modes you load adds to the memory and CPU cycles used.

Features:

Automatic mode switching when entering combat. For example, you can have Threat mode be shown in combat. Skada can switch back after combat ends.

Specific fight segments can be kept indefinately.

Multiple windows. There is a page with API information here.

Usage:

Navigation in Skada is done by "drilling down" to the information you want. You go to a lower level, showing more detailed information, by clicking on it, and you go to a higher level by right-clicking.

The top level is the list of all saved fight segments. The second level is the list of all available data modes, such as Damage Done. The third level is one of these modes. Most modes let you drill down for further details. Some modes have several detailed views. In this case you choose alternate views by holding certain keys pressed while clicking. For example, in Damage mode, you can Shift-click a player to see what enemies the player caused damage to. Tooltips will display how to reach the different views.

You can also use window buttons for selecting fight segment and mode directly.

Scrolling in Skada is done with the mousewheel.

New Skada windows can be created from the configuration screen. Each window can be separately configured. A popular feature is "Mode switching", which lets Skada automatically switch to a specific mode on entering combat.

There is a forum thread for discussion on Skada.
